Hi I am Carol

I was born and raised in South Florida but always dreamed of living in NYC one day. That dream became a reality when I attended NYU. I graduated in 2020 with a bachelors of science in civil and urban engineering. I was drawn to engineering because I have always had a keen eye for problem solving, a high attention to detail and a love of math, science and art. After a few years of working in the industry as a Bridge Engineer, I decided I needed to pivot - but I wanted to make sure whatever I did next checked those same boxes.

After thinking it over I decided I wanted to pivot into UX, because it combines three of my favorite things:

  1. Using creativity to problem solving issues through design

  2. Using research and data to develop insights and build a supportive argument

  3. Collaboration, teamwork and an agile work environment

Although civil engineering is an atypical background for UX design, I believe that it still comes with a host of experiences and perspectives that are applicable and even give me a unique edge within the industry that I plan on bringing forward with me into my UX career. At the end of the day, when designing a bridge, we also need to keep in mind the end users for the bridge and how our designs will impact them.
